Marie Jones is a contemporary Fashion Designer/Lecturer in Fashion & Sustainability, who’s work is grounded in Popular Culture, from Pop Art to Punk Rock with a hefty dose of Americana.
After completion of a BA in Fashion and Textiles at Liverpool in the 1980’s, Marie has spent over thirty years working at the heart of the UK Fashion industry. She has held Design Director and Head of Design roles in Dorothy Perkins (Arcadia), House of Fraser, and M&S, where she led teams of up to 25 designers through the creative, design and development process. In 2016/2017 she consulted at Amazon Fashion to establish several Private Label brands.
Marie holds an MA with Distinction in Fashion and Sustainability from The London College of Fashion. Her research revolves around disrupting the paradigms surrounding fast fashion, consumerism, and the disposal of clothing, and is currently creating pedagogical toolkits for Fashion and Sustainability for use in education. She is currently Associate Lecturer at LCF were she specialises in Fashion & Sustainabilty.
Marie is co-founder of Hendy & Jones, a sustainable fashion brand which upcycles preloved menswear.
